Having my own decorated space has always been sacred and essential to my serenity, with a job start date coming up and being in a completely new place alone for the second time in 3 months, preservation of any small part of my sanity hinged largely on having a place to call my own and fill with wonderful little things. A home is a treasured place to cultivate peace and strength necessary to open the door and face the rest of the world that may not be as kind. And for me especially; a place that doesn’t make me feel like I’m living in a foreign country by myself. Luckily I had souvenirs a plenty to decorate my room and make it the splendidly hip little sanctuary that I need. I live in a half built completely new apartment building which boast to be the first apartment building in Malang.
May I present my studio in Malang:
Home is Whenever I’m Here
some Japanese 100 yen store battery lanterns for bedside lamps, and some handmade strings of paper cranes hung from the ceiling
some cheery headboard ladies to wake up to from Daiso Japanese 100 yen store
cardboard box covered with a batik tube making a perfect coffee table / foot rest
its amazing what free beach coral, an empty chocolate box, a $3.50 elephant and some pillow toppers from a hotel in Japan can do for a room.
the view inside: $5 peace posters from Vietnam and lucky origami flower balls, and the view from my window
the first thing I see every morning, and the last thing I see at night: paper cranes ceiling high 🙂
Your bedroom looks amazing girl! So much better than the last place I’m sure! Glad to see you’re doing well and finding your own home away from home (;

Love your apartment! So bright and shiny and unique, something tells me it has a flushing toilet also? Congratulations!

Thanks! I am really liking my cozy little nook. Yes I do have a flush toilet…still no warm water though, but not freezing either so it’s an improvement.
